HS Library/IT Advisory: Evaluating Your Personal Media Habits

Evaluating Your Personal Media Habits: Creating Positive Habit Goals

Step 1: Take this survey to reflect on your own personal media habits.

Step 2: Choose an article or video (or both) from one of the sections on this page that relates to your own tech habits. Read this article.

Step 3: From either the video or article you read / watched, find

  • A sentence that was meaningful to you
  • A phrase (group of words) that struck you
  • A word that was important from that article

Step 4: Turn & Talk- Share your sentence, phrase, word with a partner.

Step 5: Read this article about creating habit goals. Write a habit goal for yourself that will promote more balanced technology use.

  • What is the specific behavior you will adopt? (i.e., I will not text during classes)
  • What kind of time limits will you create for yourself? (i.e., I will allow myself 15 minutes of social media once I have done 45 minutes of homework)
  • Will you need to make any physical changes to your environment to make that change possible? (i.e., charging phone outside your bedroom rather than right next to you)

Step 6: Share your habit goal with the same partner with whom you shared sentence, phrase, word earlier.
