Today's Lesson

Opening Activity: 

  • Read "College Ready" (linked in box to left). 
  • Fill out the "admissions officer" feedback form based on each applicant (Markus and Tommy)
  • Join up with two other students.
  • Decide which student you would admit and why.

Focus Questions:

  • What have you done to prepare for college / university?
  • What is a digital footprint? What do you think is the difference between a Digital Footprint & a Digital Tattoo?
  • Watch video: "Social Media Clean-Up Tips for Students" (5:07)
  • What is one take-away you find valuable in this video?

In pairs:

  • Google yourself and one or two of your close friends
  • Identify both positive qualities you infer from the search results and also questionable qualities that arise in your search. What do you find that would impress an admissions officer or prospective employer? What do you find that would make one hesitant about admitting / hiring this person?

To conclude:

  • Next steps: What concrete actions can you take starting TODAY to curate a more positive digital tattoo?
